We have a field trip this week to see a play, The Selfish Giant.  Several parents have already contacted us to chaperon.  Please let us know right away if you are interested because space is very limited.

Our traditional African American Heritage event is quickly approaching.  Students in the second grade are researching famous African American people and should be ready to present to the class.  Additionally the work you will see on display at the Gallery Walk will include some Andy Whorhal inspired images of President Obama (Room 215) and A visual of Langston Hughues My People Poem (room 214.)

Please send a water bottle with sport lid as the rooms are very dry in the winter months.

Please contribute snacks (no nuts)   we also need klorox wipes to help disinfect our classrooms.

Please note that there are several Dollar Tree stores going out of business around town and this is a great time to help to stock our Warrior store.

January 20 to 23

This is a short week due to the holiday.  Please note that students should be working on their research projects and be ready to present any time between now and the 28th.  Please help your child to read, write and be ready to tell us about a historical African American figure.  All writing should be in the chil’s own words.  Please do not copy a book or article for this project.  After a student has read or been read to they should write what they find interesting IN THEIR OWN WORDS.

Next week we are going to see the play “The Selfish Giant.”  The original story has content about the death of the giant and his assent to heaven, but the theater has assured me that this piece is treated in such a way that we will not need to worry about offending anyone or anyone’s religion.

Please consider making donations to our Ray Warrior store.  The items we have for ticket trade have dwindled quite a bit and we need to bolster our inventory.
