Wow!! A busy Monday with the celebration of the 100th day of second grade!!!
This Thursday is our celebration of Black History Month!! An evening of events!
Thanks for the snacks that have been coming in. We are half way through the school year and our classroom could use more colored pencils and markers if you are able to get some for the classroom. Many thanks!!
Language Arts: This weeks lessons will include learning about synonyms, words with ar, using Questions, using Text and Graphic Features in a text, Fictional Narrative, and commas in Dates and Places. Please see the weekly letter that went home on the back side of the Reading Log. Thanks.
Math: We reviewed Unit 5 today and will have a Unit 5 Assessment tomorrow. The best thing to do it review homework. I went over problems like the ones that will be on the test tomorrow. We will continue to focus on “writing” what they are thinking in completing their computation.
Homework: They have a Number Story worksheet for tonight. They are to make up a two-digit number story (we have been working on these using money) and return the homework tomorrow.
Tuesday: No homework on a test day.
Wednesday and Thursday-Lessons 6.1 and 6.2
Also look for the parent letter on Wednesday.
Science: We are working in our Balance and Motion Unit. What can your child tell you about balance, balance point, and counter balance? We are almost ready to moving on to Motion.
Social Studies: We will end our African American History Month by reading more poems and stories this week by African-Americans and looking at our wonderful projects that everyone has already presented!
We will do some map work over the next two weeks.
Have a great week. Jean Clement
