Ray Warrior Families,

Be aware that our first field trip to the Children’s Center in Palos Park is next MONDAY.  Students will need to bring a lunch.  All Halloween costumes must stay at home that day (No costumes during the day).  Students who need to bring costumes because they do not go directly home after schooll must leave costumes in their backpacks until end of day. Please also note that field trips are a requirted part of our curriculum and thus should not be missed.  If your child has already experienced the destination please note that we are doing extentions of the trips in class and the benefit of revisiting the place with this years peers is important to us.  Please do NOT use attendance on trips as a disciplinary consequence.
We have limited space and all of the teachers have already identified the chaperones for this trip.  Thank you to everyone who volunteered.

Please pay your $85 class fee as soon as possible

Home assignments:

Reading minimum 15 minutes daily —weekends too! (log printed on the back of this sheet)

A “Writing Application” project will last all 5 days of the week Monday: Plan (choose from the 2 topics provided) Tuesday Draft, Wednesday revise (make it better) Thursday edit (check for errors) Friday publish (turn it in to the teacher)

Writing Application: Note parents may “share the pen” if needed as we start the year and turn it over to more independent writing as we progress.

Choice 1: A Daily Plan
Pick a day of the week.  Make a list of the things we do in school on that day.  Tell the time you do each thing.

Choice 2: Map Makers
Help a new student find their way around your school.  Make a map of the inside of the school.  Draw each important place or thing in youschool.  Then lable each place and write a description of it.
