We begin the week with an anti-bullying video/seminar. Students will gather in the auditorium on Monday at 930 to view and after discuss the issue of bullying.
Reminder: African American Hero project is due no later than Friday February 17. Any early submissions are welcome and advised. Waiting until the last day is discouraged.
Please be mindful of the temperature fluctuations indoors and out and have you child dress in layers when possible. A warm outer wear is always advised just in case. Also, it is suggested that all articles of clothing be labeled with the child’s name.
Please continue to contribute snacks and a water bottle for your child’s desk.

A “Writing Application” project will last all 5 days of the week Monday: Plan (choose from the 2 topics provided) Tuesday Draft, Wednesday revise (make it better) Thursday edit (check for errors) Friday publish (turn it in to the teacher)
Writing Application: Note parents may “share the pen” if needed as we start the year and turn it over to more independent writing as we progress.
Choice 1: A Poem
Write a poem about a journey you have taken. It may be a small journey, just to the corner store, or a longer journey to a vacation spot. Tell how you traveled and how long it took to get to the destination.
Choice 2: Travel Poster
Pretend you own a travel agency. You need to advertise a special destination you are featuring. Make a poster to tell about the place. Draw a picture and write sentences about it under the picture.
