Weekly Overview December 16, 2013

One last fun and busy week before our Winter Break!!  As you have probably heard, some students will attend a field trip with Dr. Hill on Wednesday.  Students who received good grades, had good attendance, and who had consistently good behavior were asked to attend!  I told all our students that they had a chance to go another time if the above mentioned items improve!! All students will have a fun little party on Friday!!

Please remember that our PTA is sponsoring a Winter Clothing Drive-bring in clothes!!  See the Ray News for further information.  Also, thanks to all who have brought in money for the Pennies for the Philippines Drive!!

Language Arts:  We will focus this week on the vocabulary, verbs, the  message of the story The Polar Express!  The students are excited about this already!  We will watch the movie toward the end of the week and complete a Venn Diagram in comparing the two.

Homework:  Your child should be working tonight and, if needed, tomorrow night on their diorama!!  Two have already come in and they are wonderful!!  If/when your child finishes their work, your child should then write a paragraph about what they did.  This should be turned in by Thursday.

Math:  We will be working with 3-Dimensional shapes, Pyramids, and Line Symmetry all week.

Homework:  Lessons 5.5-5.8, Monday through Thursday.

Science:  Again this week, we will be working with clouds and their formations.

Social Studies:  The final activity in our Native American Unit will be working in groups this week and your children read a short poem with their group titled “Comes The Rain.”

Have a wonderful Winter Break and I will see you again January 6, 2014!!
